- Zhao Chenggong, born in Harbin, Heilongjiang
Province in 1962;
- member of Heilongjiang Artist Association;
- member of Harbin Painting and Calligraphy
Research Association;
- the president of Heilongjiang Wood Carving
Association;
- graduated from Dalian Light Industry
Art College in 1989;
- successfully held the Art Exhibition
in Dalian in 1989;
- the head of the Interior Designing Office
of Heilongjiang International Engineering
Technological Cooperative Company from
1990 to 1994;
- established the Harbin Chenggong Sculptural
Arts Studio in 1994 and initiated the
carved wood decoration in Harbin; the
artistic works are ordered by many hotels,
enterprises and sold far to Europe, America
etc.;
- the watercolor painting Winter Delight
won the gold prize in the Heilongjiang
Artistic Review Exhibition in 2001;
- the watercolor painting Whispering won
the gold prize in the first Heilongjiang
Watercolor Painting Two-Year Exhibition
in 2002;
- the carved wood version of Upper river
during the Qing Ming Festival came out
after two years¡¯ creation in 2003, and
it was reported by many mass media such
as Hong Kong Channel, Harbin TV Station,
Harbin Daily Paper, Beijing Entertainment
Paper etc. and made a great stir;
- the masterpiece Top Wood Carving series
were published and issued in Xinhua book
stores throughout the country in 2004;
- The Album of Zhao Chenggong Watercolor
Paintings came out in 2005.

| ¡¡¡¡Having been enthusiastic and persistent in pursuing
in art for many years, when his success in holding his art exhibition
in college displayed and gave full rein to his artistic talent,
Chenggong has leapt to a shining art star. Honor and praise
come thick and fast. He established the Chenggong Sculptural
Arts Studio in 1995 and set forth on his unique journey of painting,
carving and sculpturing. Being lifelike and finding expression
in a new way, his works of art are well received by people at
home and abroad and have a high value of collection, which make
his fame spread far and wide. His masterpiece Top Wood Carving
series were published throughout the country in 2004. The Album
of Zhao Chenggong Watercolor Paintings came out in 2005. His
pursuing in art and life experience make him more and more a
great master. |

| ¡¡¡¡Wood carving, as a kind of carving, has been favored
by many carvers due to its primitive simplicity of the wood
material. Tradition is the biggest connotation of the carved
wood. However, by virtue of the passion for the traditional
art and the solid art skill, Zhao Chenggong skillfully blends
the modern visual sense into the thick wood material, making
the old art and the modern design in great harmony. Born in
1962, Zhao Chenggong was keen on drawing in childhood. Through
his un remitting hard working, he went to the Dalian Light
Industry Art College in 1985. He worked hard during the college
years, and many of his creative works were highly praised
by the experts. He won many prizes and held his own art exhibition.
After graduating from the Art College, Zhao Chenggong continued
pursuing in his art road. His artistic talent broadened his
vision and skill in the fields of photography, watercolor
painting, calligraphy etc. Many of them have won the gold
prizes. However, it was the wood carving that he was the most
crazy about and that made his fame spread fast. Zhao Chenggong
established the wood carving as his career direction in the
future art road. After many years¡¯ exploring and pursuing,
Zhao Chenggong finally has achieved a lot in the wood carving
creation. The most highly praised masterpiece is the Upper
river during the Qing Ming Festival which is 4 meters long
and 0.4 meters high after his two years¡¯ creation.
